Simaru Foundation

Simaru Foundation is an initiative that supports individuals with disabilities in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) since 2023. The Foundation aims to provide support for individuals in DRC. Whether they suffer from sensory impairments, physical disabilities or cognitive challenges, Simaru Foundation is committed to make a positive difference in their lives.

Simaru True Care was founded by Shaona Imaru, who is driven by her sense of purpose and compassion. She got inspired towards this remarkable journey from her experience as a refugee. She had witnessed many people suffering from disabilities in the camps. She instantly recognized the need for proper support and assistance. She observed their challenges such as unavailability of essential equipments, inadequate assistance and lack of knowledge about available resources. Congo houses millions of people who suffer from disabilities. Many of them experience discrimination and abuses, which restrict them from accessing education and employment opportunities. Such people often suffer from poor health and economic problems. Shaona decided to start a mission to address these issues. She began her journey – Simaru True Care – to help people with disabilities receive the care and support they need and deserve.
